The Secondary School Certificate in Pakistan is commonly referred to as High School (10th grade). A student enters this level after successfully completing middle school. In public or private schools, the secondary school period spans two years in classes IX and X. The curriculum for Matriculation (10th grade) is categorized into three streams: Sciences, Arts, Humanities, and Vocational/Technical. Upon successfully completing the matriculation examination, the student is awarded the Secondary School Certificate/Matriculation by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, the examination conducting body.
